In regards to accidentally buying this and now trying it- as a Avast CloudCare partner/reseller you already have access to all of the CloudCare products under the NFR license.  Just reach out to your rep to get them activated if they are not already.

SofTec Solutions reacted to ACMachado in Introducing Gen™
    Hello Partners,

Today we celebrate the coming together of the NortonLifeLock and Avast companies to reimagine and redefine Cyber Safety for consumers and small businesses around the world.

    Introducing Gen™.

Effective September 12, 2022, NortonLifeLock and Avast have merged as a multi-brand company with a new name and logo as Gen. Our new company name is inspired by the generations of people we help protect – yesterday, today and tomorrow.

    What does this mean?

Currently, there are no changes to your partner agreements or billing arrangements. In the coming months, your Sales & Marketing Account Team will help ensure a plan is in place to communicate important changes.

This company name and logo change does not impact our family of trusted brands. As Gen continues to grow and evolve as a multi-brand company in a single category, we are committed to each of our unique brands (Norton, Avast, LifeLock, Avira, AVG, ReputationDefender and CCleaner) to help us grow and reach new audiences.

If you have questions, please refer to the FAQ on our existing websites at NortonLifeLock.com/partner and Avast.com/business/partners or contact your Account Manager. Over time, these sites will transition to GenDigital.com.

SofTec Solutions reacted to George P in End-of-Life/Sale notice for CloudCare services
    Dear partners,

Please note that we are about to retire and/or stop selling some of the legacy services that you might still be providing to your customers: Email Security Services (ESS), Shadow Protect (SP), and Secure Web Gateway (SWG).

Aside from the planned CloudCare EOL, these legacy services are based on 3rd-party technology that is soon to be retired by their respective vendors. End-of-Life milestones
Date   Milestones Definition October 2022   Secure Web Gateway Sale of 2- and 3-year subscriptions discontinued Partners can still buy/renew 1-year* and/or monthly subscriptions February 28, 2023   Email Security Services End-of-Life / End-of-Support   Service discontinued February 28, 2023   Shadow Protect End-of-Life / End-of-Support   Service discontinued December 31, 2023*   Secure Web Gateway End-of-Life / End-of-Support   Service discontinued *Secure Web Gateway will be discontinued either when a customer using the service is upgraded to the Business Hub, or on the EoL date – whichever comes first. Next steps

Existing deployments of ESS, SP, and SWG will be supported until their respective EoL dates.

    Before the EOL:
ESS: Partners may request an export of their archive. In case the archive is larger than 500 GB, an external HDD has to be sent to the vendor. Please contact our Customer Care team for details. Secure Web Gateway: We’re only keeping 1-year and monthly subscriptions available for purchase and renewal in CloudCare. When a particular SWG service is terminated (as a result of an upgrade of a customer to the Business Hub or of the general SWG EoL) while a valid subscription still exists, the outstanding portion of the subscription will be refunded to you on a prorated basis. In the following months, we’ll provide you with more detailed instructions via email, on CloudCare Community, and Partner Portal to ensure your successful offboarding from ESS and Shadow Protect before their termination.

    Business Hub upgrade eligibility

The upgrades continue to be conducted in phases. Eligibility is based on the combination of services, geographic location, and billing settings of each partner and their customers. As soon as you and your customers are eligible, you will be contacted directly by email and see an in-product notification in CloudCare, with instructions on how to upgrade. To take advantage of the modern and faster UI, latest features, and frequent platform enhancements, we highly recommend that you upgrade to the Avast Business Hub as soon as you become eligible.

For more information about CloudCare EOL and the upgrade process, please visit our FAQ page.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support!

    Sincerely,
    Your Avast Business team

Status update, not even looked at them recently, not been up to date enough
I traced the backup issue, apparently a fail for going over limit is not a reason to send an alert, even though the alerts are configured to tell me if account goes over limit......
No warm fuzzy feeling at moment towards the backup. And the backup is below the limit according to the client software, but portal says over limit - so that makes me thoroughly confused. About as confused as not getting a status update when they know there is a problem.
good job they are not in communications, they would definitely fail!

yea, they had it fixed the next day before support even responded to my ticket. After I told them it appeared to have already been fixed, they confirmed there was in issue and that it had been fixed prior to them responding to the ticket.

Funny thing is, I'm subscribed to the status updates and noting ever came through about there being an issue, which is kind of the entire point of the  status page and its updates.

nothing complicated, it looks like the link in the portal to view the backed up files for a device is broken.

also the portal is pretty slow this morning. Lots of time spent waiting for pages to load fully.

A note from us on CloudCare upgrades

    Dear Partners,
As you know, we announced last year that we would be retiring CloudCare and upgrading users to the Avast Business Hub platform in 2022. For a number of reasons, the schedule that we set out to meet didn’t go according to our original plans.
The upgrades to the Avast Business Hub will gradually resume in Q4 2022; however, the end of life for CloudCare will not be until 2023 so that all of our valued partners have ample time to upgrade to the new platform.
Please stay tuned and we will continue to give you information as it becomes available, and as you and your customers are eligible for an upgrade.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your Account Manager.
    Sincerely,
    Your Avast Business team

I have been selling more and more of the patching every day. I find it is a useful overlap to already using Managed Workplace with some clients. I will say as of late the patching seem to fail a lot. When I started using it you would get a failure once in a while, but it seems now that the patching is failing all over the place, but to be honest so is the patching through Managed Workplace. Most clients I approach with the concept of have automated updates scheduled, they see a value in that service. I am not sure how everyone else is doing with it, but for me when the patches are successful it is a great addition to our services. Just an update for you all.  After attempting to change the backup type from manually set to 50GB to auto-upgrade, it worked.  However the backup storage never increased.  I set it back to manual control at 50GB limit, and the next night it worked successfully again.  So obviously the answer was to temporarily set it to auto-upgrade, let it run a successful backup, then set it back to manual control.  No need to increase storage sooner than necessary.

Go the the client, hit the devices tab and then use the "view" dropdown to change from Device list to Uninstalled devices with backup data.
There may be an old device that is stuck there with a bunch of backed up data you can delete.
