SofTec Solutions reacted to A+ Computers in Backup Alerts not being sent via email
We are getting the alerts, but as you pointed out, the device page doesn't show any data for the last backup and the total backup data on the device page is way off.
The total backed up data for at least one of our clients looks to have decreased, even though no changes to their backup have been made and no data was purged from the OLB servers

@SofTec Solutions @Guy-PCI Data Systems Inc In regards to OS patches, yes --- Patch Management is capable of patching Windows OS. The list of supported Windows versions along with third-party applications can be found here in the downloadable PDF.
In regards to @Guy-PCI Data Systems Inc's report regarding the Feature Updates, I have asked about that specifically due to the issues encountered. Guy-PCI, have you put a ticket into support yet? If you have, let me know and we can follow up.

Is it within the ability of patch management to deploy Windows features updates?  Specifically, in a test environment, we have a windows 10 1903 running patch management.  All appears well, other than I don't see an option to update it to 1909, or conversely, decline a feature update if we'd so choose.
Under approved patches, I don't see any options regarding feature updates.
    Any insight is appreciated.

This appears to work.  I made a copy of the global policy under our company policies, applied it, and now it indicates it pushed the patch management to the test computer.  I will keep an eye on it.

SofTec Solutions reacted to A+ Computers in portal says backup successful, but backup is out of room and being canceled.
So yea, I have a client who's backup is out of room and is unable to run.
When looking at the client dashboard, the backup section says the last successful backup was completed yesterday, even though the backup has been unable to run for a few weeks due to the space situation (client is not great at communicating).
When I drill down into the backup dashboard, it does show that the last backup was cancelled. In the world I want to live in, this means the backup failed to complete and should trigger an alert saying it failed.
Can we get canceled backups to generate a failed backup alert when configured? It would be really nice.

restore them from the cc agent on any machine under that customer's account. When opening the backup software, you can select a different device to access the backup data from using the drop down menu at the bottom of the login window.
that way you can always restore a devices backed up data even if that device suffers a critical failure.

the display has been weird for a few years now. it was good when first released, but some time ago it went all stupid.

While it is showing you how much data is backed up, the progress bar filled with red is very misleading and has nothing to do with anything at this point in time.

OK, URLs is not that much important, Domain Names would fit as well. I think this could be of some interest anyway because sometimes it can lead to a better understanding of what is going on within the network. Furthermore details about the involved clients could also be of help...
Imagine there is a threat within the network that want's to connect to the internet. Right now there is now way of getting some details about blocking from SWG...
As of today within the report I can see two categories: Maleware site and spyware.
Having SWG deployed on only two clients that is narrowed down to a small count of clients... Imagine a network protected by SWG for about 500 clients...
I think this topic has not been thought about enough... In the end security is all about information, especially when the threat is already in place.

Well, for us, content filtering is a bit of a game changer.
It allows us to restrict surfing to certain site by category or the site address.  We can lock a computer down to only a single site, or open it up, depending on what the clients needs are.  Are the reporting is useful.  We have it emailing reports for some clients on a weekly basis, so that they know where staff is going.
It is done at the computer level, without changing the DNS pointers.  If you lock it down enough, I believe it can even stop a computer from getting Windows updates.  It appears to monitor all IPV4 traffic, whether by browser or whatever.
It is managed by creating policies, like most things in Avast, and then just put the computers in whichever policy fits the job description.  It is great, until computers move around in the policies.  (But that never happens.... oh, wait, yes it has)
Anyway, we have found that content filtering to be quite useful.  We have worked with other products that have similar features, but the avast one is easier to manage.  And, the computer is protected, where ever it is, and on whatever network it is on.
    That's my take on it.

SWG is significantly different than the Content Filter service. In fact, you aren't supposed to use both.  If you use SWG you don't want to use the traditional Content Filter.
SWG is more like Cisco Umbrella.  It's not only a content filter but also scans the traffic for malware, phishing sites, etc.
All the CloudCare partners should have gotten an email about this new product back at the end of February.  Here is what that email said:
    "
A lot of businesses today have started embracing new technologies to streamline operations, increase employee productivity, and acquire new customers.
The upside of this digital transformation is the number of opportunities it brings to improve business agility and enhance performance, however the downside is cybersecurity. Technology is everywhere and keeping it protected is proving more challenging, especially with the rise of sophisticated phishing schemes that target unsuspecting users. In fact, 78% of security professionals believe that the biggest threat to security in an SMB is the negligence among the employees for security practices.
Another security risk that SMBs are facing today is BYOD. SMBs have adopted mobile, cloud, and social, as part of their daily operations to support business productivity. An increasing number of them are accessing the corporate network from their home or another remote site, easily bypassing the security controls the business has in place. As a result, SMBs need to ensure that they have a  robust solution in place to secure their data, devices, and employees even when they are out of the office. Having an on-prem security appliance is no longer sufficient.
Avast Business has proudly developed a solution, in partnership with Zscaler, tailored specifically  for SMBs - Avast Secure Web Gateway. The Secure Web Gateway protects SMBs against cybersecurity threats including malicious web traffic, phishing, and many more!
    At a glance benefits:
Advanced security - through deep real-time analysis Reduced Complexity -  a “less than 10-min deployment” (IT service provider quote) Increased Speed - by eliminating all appliance bottlenecks and reducing latency Simplified IT infrastructure and lower TCO Interested to learn more? Investigating - We are currently experiencing issues within Managed Workplace for some devices under Patch Management. Until this is resolved, partners may experience disruptions and devices not checking into the Service Center for Patches.

We will provide an update and/or resolution when more information is available.

SofTec Solutions got a reaction from VCHC47362 in Restart and Resume
Since the upgrade to MW 11 SP4 and the new and "improved" Premium Remote Control (PRC), it has issues with "enable restart and resume", which was an awesome feature.  I called tech support and at first the person said that the new PRC could no longer do that function.  When I asked why, he said it was because many people had asked for the new "Invite Operator" function.  Then, as he was doing some research, he said the "resume" function might work, if the remote computer and the technician computer had the latest version of PRC.
We have found this to be true.  If you cannot get the "resume" feature to work, uninstall the PRC from the endpoint using the script in the library.  Then, to speed things up, click on the "get latest assets" button.  Wait about 5 minutes and go back to the PRC area.  The system should tell you that PRC needs to be installed on the endpoint.  Click to install it and wait for a few minutes.  Come back to the screen and try it.  it should now work and the resume feature should now work again.  It would appear that any Premium Remote Agent that is version 4.4.1746.22 and above should work with resume.  We have been running test here at the shop, and this solution appears to be consistent.
Now, the real funny part.  I had to call support on an issue with the new "Invite Operator" feature, because it was there and we wanted to test it.  The issue is the that invitation would lead to a link that would start an on-line connection, but it would ask for a username and password.  And we could get nothing to work in the password fields.  This support person said that this feature was not working and that the way to have another technician come on to the same session was to use their MW portal and just PRC into the same endpoint.  He said this was a new improvement.  But, I disagree, because the PRC always allowed multiple sessions on the same endpoint.  So, one tech says the "Invite operator" is a great new feature, and another says it doesn't work and don't use it.  Those are mixed messages.
Anyway, we are just glad we have found a solution to the broken "Enable restart and resume" feature.

The Auvik network software will measure bandwidth usage quite well.  (Another Canadian Company).  I am unaware of a way to do this with Managed Workplace.  It is a shortcoming of the product, unfortunately.

Well, here is an update for you.  We just signed a new contract for Managed Workplace and CloudCare, combined.  A three year contract.  Yes, we are a bit nervous, but the cost per managed endpoint is pretty good.  It is too much work to move 800 end points to another platform, and we really have no reason to do so.  It was scary when we signed up the first time, maybe back 5 or 6 years ago, or so.  But the amount of work we can get done has far, far outpaced the cost.  And we have grown with it.  Also just signed up for 3 years for Autotask.  We are looking forward to improving our efficiencies with that product.

Try this for a starting point, depending on your market, for those new clients, or even your old ones.
Offer a reduced hourly rate for a Managed client. Charge them $10 for each managed end point for the Managed Workplace Solution.  (Just for round numbers.) Setup a simple maintenance automation to happen every week on each end point. So far, that is all part of the package.  Anything above this is billable at the reduced rate. Now, you have a client that is running your management software, managed by your portal.  That is the beginning of a relationship with that client.  They now know you have their back, and you know more about their systems than anyone.
    Now, lather, rinse and repeat.
You will be amazed at how efficient your staff, or yourself, can be with this product.
If you do this right, you can expect, or should expect, a 5X return on the investment. (At least)  Do not give it away.  It is too valuable.
There, that's my take on the product.  For what it is worth.
